Dubai supermarket offers drive-through service for customers

A branch of the UAE's consumer co-operative market has launched a drive-through service allowing customers to shop from their vehicles.

Visitors to Union Coop’s Mirdif branch at Etihad Mall in Dubai will now be able to do their shopping without leaving their car.

Khalid Al Falasi, chief executive of Union Coop, said shoppers can park at a designated area at the branch, where they will be met by staff who will take their order and payment.

He said more than 130 products and services are available to order at the drive-through.

“Based on the latest developments in retail across the world, Union Coop decided to implement this exceptional new idea to increase the options for consumers,” he said.

The drive-through hours are the same as the branch at Etihad Mall.

The service is likely to be popular amid the Covid-19 outbreak as capacity restrictions and safety measures are implemented in supermarkets.
