A new bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Lehbab Road is now open to traffic, the Roads and Transport Authority said on Monday. Three lanes in each direction, the bridge is intended to ease traffic from Emirates Road to Seih Assalam. The installation comes on the heels of the opening of Al Qudra Road, extending 12 kilometres from the Jebel Ali-Lehbab intersection to Bab Al Shams roundabout.

“This road has become a traffic hub for the traffic movement inbound from Jumeirah via Umm Suqueim, then passing through the flyover of Al Khail Road to link with the Arabian Ranches Interchange on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road,” said Maitha bin Udai, chief executive of RTA’s traffic and roads agency. “A special lane on this bridge has been dedicated for cyclists’ crossing.”

A 2km diversion is still in place due to construction work on a crossing for vehicles, camels and horses on Al Qudra Road, which is set to open by the end of March.
