Better behaviour on Abu Dhabi’s roads in first half of 2015

ABU DHABI // There has been a 21.27 per cent drop in the number of drivers breaking the law by suddenly swerving or using their mobile phones while driving, during the first half of the year.

During the first six months of 2015 Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic and Patrols Directorate recorded 17,498 offences, compared to 22,157 the year before.

In a statement to Al Ittihad, The National's sister publication, Colonel Mohammed Salem Al Shehhi, head of the Department of Violations and Vehicle Impounds, said that traffic offences resulting from use of mobile phones while driving dropped by 19.68 per cent accounting for 10,361 violations, compared to 12,900 violations in the same period last year.
