DUBAI // The Abu Dhabi-bound bridge across Sheikh Zayed Road, being built as part of the Dubai Canal Project, will open to traffic on July 1.
The 800-metre long bridge will have eight lanes in each direction, with six lanes open by next Friday and the remaining two open by mid July, said Mattar Al Tayer, director general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority.
The bridge rises 8.5 metres above water level allowing free navigation in the canal, added Mr Al Tayer.
“This bridge is characterized by a unique design with waterfalls flowing from the top, and smart lighting fixtures,” he said.
