DUBAI // One person was killed and three people were injured in an accident on the Dubai Mall bridge headed towards Al Khail Road, Dubai Police said.

Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic, said the incident took place at 11am on Thursday.

“The incident involved a white Honda Accord driven by an Emirati and a mini-bus,” said Col Al Mazrouei, who attended the scene of the incident. “Preliminary investigations show that Honda driver was speeding and lost control of his vehicle, which swerved to the right and hit the back of the bus.”

“The bus swerved and crashed into a cement barrier and flipped.”

Col Al Mazrouei said the bus driver was killed and two of his passengers were injured, adding the Honda driver sustained serious injuries. They were all transferred to hospital.

Col Al Mazrouei warned motorist to abide by the road rules, always stick to the speed limit and avoid distractions.
