ABU DHABI // Tickets are now on sale for the adrenaline-packed Red Bull Air Race World Championship.
The event, on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche from February 13 to 14, is the start of the championship’s 2015 season, which takes place in eight destinations and will feature 14 pilots.
The capital is one of five of last year’s “most popular locations” selected to be a repeat host. New destinations this year include Japan and Russia, and two new pilots are to join the daredevil aerobatic competitors.
“By expanding to 14 pilots from 11 countries, the Red Bull Air Race will have one of the biggest and most experienced fields since it started in 2003, with only the 2009 and 2010 seasons having one pilot more with 15,” said a race spokesman.
“Some of the 12 returning pilots have taken part in all 58 races since 2003.”
The world’s best will compete using the fastest, most agile and lightweight one-seat planes, that zigzag through a low aerial racetrack on air-filled pylons.
A race village on the Corniche Breakwater will offer Race Club ticket holders unobstructed views of the racetrack, seating, an open buffet and beverages.
The Skylounge, a VIP area within the village, offers ticket holders an “exclusive, five-star hospitality area with superior views and seating, gourmet menu, acclaimed chefs and waiter service”.
A Race Club ticket costs Dh600 for the qualifying round on Friday, Dh900 for the race day on Saturday, and Dh1,250 for a weekend pass. Skylounge tickets cost Dh2,300 for the qualifying round, Dh3,300 for race day and Dh4,800 for a weekend pass.
Tickets are available at Virgin Megastores in Abu Dhabi Mall, Al Wahda Mall and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi, and at BurJuman mall, City Centre Deira, Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Mercato Shopping Mall and Mirdif City Centre mall in Dubai. They are also available online at tickets.virginmegatore.me
General admission to a dedicated Red Bull zone on the Corniche is free.
