Three months jail for man’s kidnap threats

Man who threatened to kidnap girl in retaliation for police complaint has been sentenced to three months in prison.

DUBAI // A man who threatened to kidnap a girl in revenge for a police complaint has been sentenced to three months in prison.

AR, 32, from Egypt, phoned his compatriot KA, an investor, on July 29 this year to warn him that if he did not drop a complaint against his brother for writing dud cheques that he would kidnap his daughter and damage his car.

The Criminal Court found him guilty in absentia and sentenced him to six months in prison. It changed the sentence to three months in a retrial for which the man was present.
