Three months for man who molested and showed explicit images to boy in Dubai

Dubai Criminal Court heard that the Egyptian man inappropriately touched the Emirati boy at a library where he worked.

DUBAI // A salesman who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy after showing him pornographic images has been sentenced to three months in jail.

Egyptian E A, 29, had the Emirati boy sit on his lap at the library where he worked on October 10 last year and he touched the boy’s private parts after showing him inappropriate images. Police officer A A, 38, from Yemen, testified that the defendant was arrested three days after the boy’s family lodged a complaint.

“He was brought to the police station but at first denied molesting the boy then confessed willingly in front of me,” he said.

“He said he knew the boy was the son of the imam of a mosque nearby.”

Prosecutors said that, in his confession, the Egyptian said he tried to force the boy to touch him but the boy ran away.

The defendant failed to show up at Dubai Criminal Court to enter a plea but was later found by police.

He will be deported after completing his jail term.
