DUBAI // Three men accused of breaking into a private school in Dubai and stealing more than Dh23,000 in cash have been found not guilty by the Dubai Criminal Court.

Yemenis B A, 49, and A A, 31, and Egyptian J A, 55, were charged with burglary and with causing Dh4,700 in damages to two doors and a safe at the school.

They denied the charges in court in December last year.

Prosecutors said that the three men broke into the school on May 29 last year. They used an iron bar and a screw driver to get access to the accountant’s office then stole Dh23,384.

Human resources manager A B, 36, from Jordan, discovered the incident the next morning and called police.

Policeman M A, 34 said investigations revealed the involvement of the three men.

“The Yemeni defendants were arrested in Ajman and we found Dh640 with B A and Dh8,100 with A A,” said the policeman.

The court did not give reasons for the acquittal of the three men.

Prosecutors can appeal the court’s verdict within 15 days.
