DUBAI // Three young men used a rock to break the window of a pharmacy and get away with Dh11,000 worth of controlled drugs, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.
Emiratis A A, 27, and O A, 22 and S S, 19, who holds a Comoros Islands passport, all denied charges of armed robbery.
The three men were arrested on the day of the incident, August 3, after a report was made to the police.
“They confessed in front of me that they have used the rock to break the glass facade of the pharmacy then stole the drugs as well as cash,” said N M, a 39-year-old policeman.
Indian P F, 49, told prosecutors that he was informed about the theft by a pharmacy employee.
“When I went to the pharmacy I found police already there,” said P F.
Police checked security camera recordings and saw two people throwing a rock at the window then shoving it with their shoulders three times until it smashed.
The footage showed the men entering the store then leaving with a large quantity of controlled medication boxes.
The men are also accused of stealing Dh3,150 in cash from the pharmacy’s cash register, which they also denied in court.
A date for the next hearing has not yet been set.
