Officials said a team of safety inspectors from Dubai Municipality are carrying out their inspection into safety measures as well.

Witnesses at Global Village today said they noticed a "pipe like structure" fall from the Ferris wheel in the games area.

"I was standing next to another ride with my two children and suddenly saw someone pointing at the wheel," said AM, an Emirati who was there at around 10pm.

"Then I noticed a big pipe, a chunk, fall. I took my kids hand and started running."

According to an online message posted by AM, the pipe broke of the Ferris wheel at the Village landing on people below.

Rashid Hospital's trauma centre confirmed that they received three other cases from Global Village yesterday. According to officials, all of them suffered minor injuries and were discharged last night.

Entertainment shows at the park were closed today as its chief executive met with staff to discuss means to further help investigators.
