Thirty couples say ‘I do’ in mass wedding ceremony

Mass weddings are held with the aim of stopping Emirati couples from getting into debt by trying to organise large ceremonies.

Thirty Emirati couples who married yesterday in a mass wedding held in the Western Region welcomed a special guest on their happy day.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, attended along with other dignitaries, the state news agency Wam reported.

Mass unions often take place across the country, with one in Dubai in March last year seeing 51 couples tie the knot.

Mass weddings are held with the idea of helping Emirati couples not get into debt trying to organise a big ceremony.
