The National's readers have chosen.

Victor Besa's UAE National Day photo from Abu Dhabi's Corniche won The National's best staff photographer photos of 2020 with 28 per cent of the vote.

"Some of the crowd at the Corniche were a bit disappointed for the cancellation of the Al Fursan display," Besa says. "The kids playing on the boat were not bothered and just continued playing, accepting and enjoying how the day had turned out.

"This to me showed the resiliency of the future, making the best what is given to them at that moment. I just had to capture the moment."

Antonie Robertson's photo of farm workers and labourers from Pakistan and India playing an informal game of volleyball was second with 17 per cent.

In joint third, Christopher Whiteoak's flyboarder and Besa's flamingos at Al Wathba Wetland both earned 8 per cent.
