A ship that has been idle since running aground on the coast of Ajman nearly two months ago will be scrapped.
Sea Blue ran aground near Ajman Corniche amid stormy seas and there was some doubt over where responsibility lay for removing it, with both the Coastguard and Civil Defence absolving themselves of responsibility.
However, Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, the chief of Ajman Police, said that senior officials in the emirate had given directives to Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, in cooperation with Ajman Police and Civil Defence, to dismantle the vessel and move it away from the shore.
The sight of Sea Blue has become something of an attraction to beachgoers in the emirate, The National's Arabic sister paper Al Ittihad reported on Monday, with many taking photos.
Many vessels have hit Ajman's shores in the past but all were towed away within two or three days.
