Suhail Al Mazrouei, the new Minister of Energy replacing Mohammed Al Hamli, was well placed to be given his role, as deputy chief executive of Mubadala Oil and Gas.
In his new post he will be expected to develop the oil production, but more importantly to enhance the UAE's role in the renewable and sustainable-energy industry.
As the head of Mubadala's business development team, Mr Al Mazrouei has been responsible for all of the new business development activities in the Middle East and North Africa in oil and gas excursion and production.
He also worked at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) for 10 years, for 18 months at Royal Dutch Shell, an international oil company.
