DUBAI // Two students have been jailed for having consensual sex with a woman who claimed she had been kidnapped and raped.

H F, 19, and H A, 23, both from Sudan, were charged with kidnapping the 22-year-old Emirati and threatening her, before taking turns to rape her in a dark street in Jumeirah.

The pair denied the charges and said the sex was consensual. They three had agreed to sex in return for money, but when the two men did not have enough to pay, she claimed she had been raped.

The woman met one of the men after exchanging messages on BlackBerry Messenger, records show.

“On the night of the incident he asked that we meet under my building and we did,” the woman said. He then pulled her into a car driven by his friend, she said.

She resisted and asked them to stop but they threatened her with tear gas and a sword before taking her to Jumeirah where they stopped the car in a dark street, she said.

She tried to run away, but the men chased and caught her then when she refused to have sex with them they raped her, the court heard.

“It was my wedding anniversary and we were having a party and after the guests left I saw a woman entering the villa crying and asked for help,” testified 47-year-old K T, a businessman from Iran.

Police were called and arrested the two men.

“One of them said that she offered them sex for Dh200 and after he and his friend finished they didn’t pay her the money and left so she fabricated the rape story as revenge,” Emirati policeman E A, 25, said in records.

H F denied all charges. H A failed to appear. The court sentenced them both to six months in jail after evidence ruled out rape and confirmed the sex was consensual.

Both will be deported following the completion of their jail terms.
