Standardised address system vital to Abu Dhabi, official says

A total of 19,000 new names will be chosen to replace old street names, 240 region borders will be reviewed and 48,000 street signs will be installed.

ABU DHABI // It is vitally important that the capital adopts a standardised addressing system, the chairman of the municipal affairs department and president of the GeoNames committee in Abu Dhabi, Saeed Eid Al Ghafli, has said.

A total of 19,000 new names will be chosen to replace old street names, 240 region borders will be reviewed and 48,000 street signs will be installed.

Mr Al Ghafli said that GeoNames will be selected according to international best practices, taking into account the national identity and heritage of the UAE.
