DUBAI // Job opportunities in scientific, technical and space projects will be created for outstanding Emirati students after a space centre signed a deal with a leading university.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre entered an agreement with UAE University on Monday to develop qualified UAE nationals to work in the space, science and technology sectors.
The centre and the university will design and develop educational and training programmes so graduates can help meet the growing needs of the space industry in the UAE.
Scholarships for students in engineering and information technology will also be provided by the space centre.
Dr Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, vice chancellor of UAEU, said the university has the capability and resources to achieve the common goals of the two parties.
“[It will be] encouraging creativity and sustainability in scientific research, developing scientific research programmes with the help of international research centres, contributing positively and effectively to research matters related to the space technology sector, exchanging experiments and experiences with MBRSC and achieving scientific integration,” he said.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, chairman of the board of directors at MBRSC, said that rapid growth in the space sector requires the support of the educators.
“UAEU is a prestigious educational institution that serves as an incubator for technology and research centres, particularly in the space field,” he said. “We [aim to build] a sustainable economy based on innovation, creativity and excellence.”
