Sowwah Island changes its name

Sowwah Island, across the water from Abu Dhabi island, has had its name changed to Al Maryah.
The name refers to a historical village in Liwa that was inhabited by large numbers of pure Arabian Oryx, also referred to as Al Maryah, the municipality said yesterday.
