Police have arrested suspected smugglers in Oman who were planning to take kilos of drugs into the UAE.
When stopped in Khasab City, the suspects were in possession of 10 kilograms of hashish, 19,800 narcotic pills, 54.5 grams of heroin, and 80 grams of crystal meth, say police.
Col Saeed Al Suwaidi, director general of the anti-narcotics division at the Ministry of Interior, said the arrests were only possible because of the help of Omani police.
Brig Yasser Al Maamari, commander-in-chief of Musandam police in Oman, said his force was planning further cooperation with its UAE counterparts to prevent drugs smuggling.
