Dubai // A man has been jailed for six months for kidnapping and molesting a 19-year-old saleswoman.
Sri Lankan L W, 32, pretended to the Chinese woman that he was lost and asked her to accompany him in his car to show him the location of the Metro station on August 13 last year.
“I was walking in Discovery Gardens when he pulled over and asked for directions,” she said.
“Under his insistence, I jumped into his car but then noticed he drove in a different direction,” she said.
The woman told him he was taking a wrong direction but then he started touching her inappropriately.
“He started telling me I was beautiful, so I got scared and asked him to drop me off but he did not,” the woman said.
“He pulled my hand violently to force me to touch him,’ she said, adding that she begged him to let her go but he did not and when the car stopped she jumped out.
The woman noted down his car registration number and gave it to police. He was arrested ten minutes later.
The man denied kidnapping and sexual assault at Dubai Criminal Court last October. However he was convicted on Thursday and sentenced to six months to be followed by deportation.
