DUBAI // Six men abducted a 17-year-old from the doorstop of his house before assaulting him with swords, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

Emiratis A J, 19, S A, 19, A Z, 20, Iranians, A G Z, 20, A D S, 24 and J R 29, from Comoros Islands, are all charged with kidnap by use of force.

Prosecutors said on February 3 this year, the defendants bundled their victim, Emirati J T, 17, into a car before driving him to Al Quoz.

J T said he was at his family’s house in Al Mutaina when A J knocked on his door late at night.

“He asked me to accompany him to Al Quoz but I refused,” he said.

As he turned around to re-enter his house, one of the other defendants pulled him towards the car and shoved him into the back seat.

“Three other men helped him restrain me and pull me into the car,” said J T, a student. After the car had parked, J T said he was pulled out of the car, punched in the face and struck with a glass bottle before being thrown to the ground.

“They used swords and other sharp tools, they assaulted me for a few minutes before I found myself in hospital,” said J T.

Prosecutors said the defendants stopped the car outside the entrance of the emergency department at Rashid Hospital then threw J T out on to the steps.

Sri Lankan T K, 35, who works for the victim’s family, said that she saw J T being kidnapped and informed his mother, who called the police. The case continues.
