AJMAN // Six men have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a series of break-ins at commercial outlets and warehouses in Ajman.

Lt Col Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, director of the CID, said the arrests of the Asian men were made following reports of robberies in the emirate's industrial areas.

"We organise frequent police patrols in all of Ajman's industrial areas," he said.

"During a patrol, suspicion centred around a green Toyota Camry car that was parked with its engine running in front of a commercial outlet at a very late hour of the night."

The car had fake Dubai number plates and when officers approached, the driver sped off. The car was eventually stopped in the Al Khan area and the driver arrested, said Lt Col Al Matrooshi.

On searching the car, police said they found blades and screwdrivers allegedly used to break into warehouses. Investigations led officers to arrest the five other men.

The men have been referred to prosecutors.
