SHARJAH // An initiative has been launched to support female Emirati entrepreneurs.
Jeel, launched by Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Sharjah Ruler, will be run across the emirate.
The launch by the Sharjah Businesswomen Council coincides with the Education For Employment event that will take place on Tuesday at Souq Anwan in Dibba Al Hisn.
“Success will translate to more job opportunities that will positively enhance the social and economic state of women, their families and the community,” said Ameera bin Karam, SBWC chairperson. “Encouragement and motivation helps develop new, innovative business opportunities that lead to strengthening the social and economic development of any society.”
The Jeel programme aims to encourage leadership among women in business and to contribute to creating a generation of professional women capable of innovating, managing and developing companies.
SBWC will help to open up communication between financial institutions, entrepreneurs and investors.
The announcement is in line with the UAE’s aim to encourage innovation in various fields and will provide mentorship, support and guidance to help entrepreneurs build their ideas.
Jeel will also offer training and provide financial advice.
“Sharjah has always believed in the capabilities of Emirati women and provides support and empowerment policies for them,” Ms bin Karam said.
“Through this initiative, Sheikha Jawaher seeks to establish an innovative, effective female generation ready for their own private businesses.”
