Sharjah car owners fined after illegal residents found washing their vehicles

More than 550 illegal residents have been caught washing cars in Sharjah, and owners of the vehicles have been fined.

Officials found 567 people cleaning vehicles on streets, in shopping mall car parks and residential areas, said Omar Al Sharji, the director of operations and inspections at the municipality.

Cars in the emirate are only allowed to be washed in approved mall car parks or at petrol stations.

Most of the arrested illegal car washers were also found to have been illegal migrants who had absconded from their sponsors, he said. The car owners were fined Dh250.
