DUBAI // The court of appeal cut the sentence given to a policeman convicted of having sex with an absconding maid in return for not arresting her from fives years to one.
At an earlier hearing, the Dubai Criminal Court was told how Emirati Y T, 38, was arrested after he and Filipina J C, 33, had sex in the back of a car in May last year.
They were charged with offering bribes and having consensual sex outside of wedlock and jailed in September last year. J C was sentenced to three years, to be followed by deportation.
Dubai Police’s anti-corruption section had received several complaints about Y T for repeatedly trying to establish relationships with women.
“We received complaints that he would stop women and ask for their mobile numbers then call them to start a friendship and attempt to have sex with them, especially if he found that any of them were wanted for an offence, so we had him under surveillance,” said Emirati lieutenant S H, 23.
He said that on May 25 last year, officers received a tip-off and followed Y T to the car park of a men’s college, where the maid was found hiding in his car. Both were arrested.
