Sermon for hearing impaired in Sharjah

Worshippers will benefit from a sign language interpreter on Friday, the first time a sermon in Sharjah has been presented this way, the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs (SDIA) said.

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, chairman of the SDIA, said the initiative came in response to requests from people with hearing disabilities.

Sheikh Al Qasimi said Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services will provide a sign-language interpreter who will be sent the sermon one or two days in advance, so he can interpret it for worshippers.

The sermon will be held at Ahmed bin Hanbal Mosque.
