More than 1,300 tonnes of waste were generated during the Eid Al Adha holiday in Ras Al Khaimah.
Ahmed Al Hammadi, head of RAK Public Works and Service Department, said the emirate had geared up for Eid by distributing more than 9,000 rubbish bins.
He said waste was collected daily and disposed of at Al Jazeera Al Hamra rubbish dump after sorting it at a recycling plant.
Recyclable materials such as plastic, glass, paper, metal and electronics were sorted, and biodegradable waste was taken to the emirate’s landfill.
