The Ministry of Environment and Water has imposed new technical conditions for quarries and rock crushers.
The conditions, which are related to air quality and instrument location, are effective immediately to reduce air pollution, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
Another condition compels quarry owners to ensure devices constantly monitor air quality and control the content of dangerous components.
The companies must also abide by standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
