Twins Ahmed and Mahmoud Abdel Qader Darwish were among a number of babies born in Abu Dhabi during the Eid Al Adha holiday.
Their parents were overjoyed when they saw their children for the first time at 11:55pm on Thursday in the capital.
A total of 10 babies were born at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children between that evening and the first few hours of Eid Al Adha, including five boys and a girl on Arafat Day, and two boys and two girls on Eid.
The Darwish twins, weighing 1.8kgs each, were the first children for the family. “The birth of our twins on this blessed night was a surprise for us and now the memorable occasion is tripled for us," said their father, Abdel Qader Darwish. "We named them Mahmoud and Ahmed and we are very thankful for this blessing.”
The twins were delivered by Dr Rihan Saafan, Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital. "Multiple pregnancies are associated with higher possibility of early delivery," Dr Saafan said. "The twins were due in the third week of October but decided to join the family on this special occasion for all and triple the joy of their parents and ours. Both babies and mother are in good health."
The first baby to be born on the day of Eid, weighing 3kgs, arrived at 4:15am as the fourth child for her family. "The baby is in good health and we have named her Mathayel," said her father, Omar Al Menhali. "We are extremely happy to have her join us on the first hours of Eid Al Adha. From here, we would like to congratulate the UAE's leaders, Government and the people on this very special day. Mathayel has a brother and two sisters, who are overwhelmed with her birth today.”
Vino Nallaya, chief executive of the hospital, said: "We are happy to welcome the newborns at the hospital on Arafat Day and the first few hours of Eid Al Adha. All 10 babies and mothers are doing well and are in good health.”
Four more babies are expected to be born by the end of the day.
The hospital distributed flowers and gifts for all patients and children who are spending the Eid Al Adha on location.

How it works
Each player begins with one of the great empires of history, from Julius Caesar's Rome to Ramses of Egypt, spread over Europe and the Middle East.
Round by round, the player expands their empire. The more land they have, the more money they can take from their coffers for each go.
As unruled land and soldiers are acquired, players must feed them. When a player comes up against land held by another army, they can choose to battle for supremacy.
A dice-based battle system is used and players can get the edge on their enemy with by deploying a renowned hero on the battlefield.
Players that lose battles and land will find their coffers dwindle and troops go hungry. The end goal? Global domination of course.
