The 403-kilometre Fujairah pipeline was built by the China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, hired by the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Company. It took five years to complete. At full capacity, the 225,000 tonnes of steel pipe can move 1.8 million barrels of oil a day from Habshan, in Abu Dhabi's Western Region, to Fujairah. It gives the UAE an alternative shipping route for oil, instead of using the Strait of Hormuz. Siemens has been maintaining the pipeline since last month. The project is also a major boost to Fujairah's economy. View Project: Abu Dhabi in a larger map
