Prisoners accused of escaping UAE jail by scaling wall

Eleven other men are on trial for assisting the prisoners by picking them up outside the wall and taking them into hiding, while a guard is accused of negligence that led to the escape.

SHARJAH // A pair of prisoners who allegedly escaped from jail in August appeared at the The Khor Fakkan Court of Misdemeanours on Monday.

The court heard that the prisoners, an Emirati and an Asian man, broke out of prison by scaling the walls late at night.

Eleven other men are also on trial for assisting the men by picking them up outside the prison walls and taking them into hiding.

A prison guard also appeared in court, charged with negligence that led to the escape.

The case was adjourned until next Sunday.
