A branch of a popular Filipino bakery in Abu Dhabi has reopened after being shut down by local food safety officials last month.
Branch seven of Panaderia Bakery closed for five days from January 16 for failing to meet certain health and safety standards during a routine inspection by Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority.
The branch was found in breach of several regulations including displaying ready-made food in unsuitable containers and placing personal non-food items in the food storage area.
The authority ordered the branch be shut down after initially issuing some warnings and four fines in October, December and January, a statement from the authority said.
The closure order included a clause that said the branch could reopen on amending the reported offences.
The branch re-opened on January 21 "after the facility managed to correct the errors they were shut down for," the authority told The National.
Panaderia Bakery set up shop in 2008 in Mussaffah. It has about two dozen branches in the UAE.
