DUBAI // A new boutique to greet Emiratis and other Muslim passengers during Eid Al Fitr has been set up at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The Personal Shopping pop-up boutique is in Terminal 3, which is used by Emirates.

It will be manned by Heathrow’s Arabic-speaking personal shoppers, who can advise Emiratis on style, fashion and gift items available.

Shoppers will be able to browse items from more than 400 outlets at the airport in the privacy of an exclusive consultation suite.

More than 245,000 Emiratis, expatriates and visitors travelling to and from the UAE passed through Heathrow during Eid last year.

UAE nationals accounted for more than 25 per cent of Middle East users of Heathrow’s Personal Shopping service, with 25,555 Emiratis taking advantage of it last year.

“Eid is a special time of year for families and friends. Our team of experts are going to enjoy helping Emirati passengers who are looking for that special something for their loved ones back home, or for a treat for themselves,” said Jonathan Coen, retail director at Heathrow.

Earlier this week, an online campaign to offer guidance to Emiratis about visa-waiver scheme for travelling to the UK was launched by the British Embassy in the UAE.

The British government introduced the scheme on January 1 last year. Nearly 50,000 Emiratis used the service last year, allowing them to travel in the UK visa-free for up to six months.
