ABU DHABI // Dense fog blanketed the country on Wednesday morning with visibility dipping to less than 500 metres in parts of the capital.

Heavy fog was reported over Liwa and coastal areas along the Western Region, as well as over Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

Police issued a warning to motorists in Abu Dhabi, urging they drive with caution. Dubai Police reminded all road users to reduce speed gradually and not to use hazard lights except in an emergency.

Commuters experienced delays on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street at the intersection with Al Falah Street in Abu Dhabi after a car broke down.

In Dubai an accident on Rebat Road in the direction of Al Rashidiya led to further delays.

Once the fog clears, conditions are expected to be fair with lingering humidity likely to increase overnight leading to further fog on Thursday morning.

Motorists are advised to factor in extra time for their morning commutes.

Temperatures will range between 14°C and 28°C along the coast on Wednesday, with 9°C to 30°C expected inland. In the mountains temperatures will peak at 20°C and fall as low as 6°C.

Seas will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

On Thursday, north-westerly winds are expected to push temperatures down even more and pick up dust and sand, causing poor visibility across open plains.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
