DUBAI// Parents of the teenager who was found dead in Dubai Creek have not yet been allowed to see his body.
Ammar Atiuddin, 17, from Pakistan, disappeared on Monday after telling his parents he was going to buy chocolates.
His body was found by a municipality cleaner near the twin towers in Deira on Wednesday.
Police said yesterday they were awaiting the results of a DNA test and expected to have the results tomorrow.
Ammar's mother said she was desperate to see her son.
"We want the police to give us his body as soon as possible so that we can bury him in Pakistan," said Tabassum Atiuddin. "God knows how this happened and how much he suffered. I don't want his soul to suffer."
The family also visited the place where he was found yesterday in search of answers.
"The police believe he may have slipped and drowned," said his father, Atiuddin Moinudeen.
"But I think he was kidnapped and abused. Whatever the cause, we want to carry out our rituals in Pakistan and let him rest in peace."
Mr Moinudeen said the family were only shown photographs of Ammar's body on Thursday.
"In the pictures, I can see that he has injuries on the face. But his mother recognised him ... his clothes and shoes."
He said he was sure that the boy in the picture was Ammar but said police remained unconvinced.
"We went to the police station today as well but were not allowed to see him," he added.
Police said the body was fully clothed and bore no sign of violence. A full post-mortem will be done to show the cause of death.
The teenager came to Dubai for a month-long visit with his mother on April 27.
Mr Moinudeen posted a message on his company's Facebook page when Ammar did not return after leaving the Gold Souq at 11.30am on Monday. He said he received a silent call from a mobile phone on Wednesday but could not reach the person. Ammar was not carrying a mobile phone.
