Ghassan Saliba and Emirati singer Balqees Fathi will star in the stage production of Al Faris (The Knight), a one-act play inspired by the poems of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

Produced by Brand Dubai and Rahbani Productions, it will open on January 4 at Dubai World Trade Centre and run for four days.

The play, written by theatrical director Marwan Rahbani, centres on the journey of a knight as he battles to rescue his love from her kidnapper.

Mona Al Marri, director general of the Government of Dubai Media Office, said: “With their exceptional talent, Ghassan Saliba and Balqees Fathi are ideal choices for the lead roles. In terms of its technical excellence and creative ambition, Al Faris promises to be a landmark production in the history of Arab musical theatre.”

Al Faris explores the role of a leader in inspiring their people to fulfil their aspirations and dreams, said Marwan Al Rahbani, president and chief executive of Rahbani Productions. “The play alludes to the need to strike a balance between tradition and heritage on the one side, and modernity on the other,” he said.
