A competition has been launched to find the best photograph that captures the natural beauty of Liwa or the activities at the continuing date festival.

The Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee Abu Dhabi launched the competition in conjunction with Liwa Date Festival organisers to highlight the work of amateur photographers.

The theme of the competition, which is open to Emiratis and expats, has been divided into four categories: aspects of life in Liwa; nature in Liwa; heritage sites in Liwa; and the Liwa Date Festival.

Participants should ensure that pictures are taken only by using a mobile phone camera, before being uploaded to Instagram.

Editing, changing the size, and colour correction of photos are not allowed.

The prizes for the competition carry a total value of Dh12,000 for each category, with Dh5,000 for first place, Dh3,000 for second, Dh2,000 for third and Dh1,000 for both fourth and fifth places.

The winning photos will be published on the website Turathuna.com.

The deadline for submitting participations is July 17.
