Personal fitness trainer threatens to kill his ex-wife, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A personal fitness trainer threatened to bang his former wife’s head against the floor until she was dead, a court has been told.

The 43-year-old has denied a charge of issuing death threats to the Egyptian woman.

The couple divorced after she filed a report with police against him for insulting her. “He wanted me to return to him and I refused,” said the woman, 29.

In August last year he called her and threatened to go to her office, assault her, drag her by the hair and bang her head on the floor until she was dead.

The woman’s friend said she called her for advice.

“She asked me what are the legal methods to stop him from harassing her and damaging her reputation,” said the friend, a legal adviser. She later called the defendant.

“We remained in contact and he told me that they were still married and he wanted her to drop the police report against him,” she said.

“Then he told me he would go to her work and kill her, so I advised her to call the police,” said the friend.

The next hearing at Dubai Criminal Court has been scheduled for January 29.
