A total of Dh72 million was collected on the final day of the three-day telethon campaign, dubbed Awnakum, Arabic for Your Help, organised by the UAE television and radio stations to raise funds for flood-affected people in Pakistan, according to a statement from WAM, the official UAE news service.
The telethon, was launched by the UAE Red Crescent Authority, in line with the directions of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
It started on Wednesday and is aimed at raising funds to assist over 23 million people in the flood-hit Pakistan.
The radio stations and TV channels that took part in the telethon included Al Emarat, Noor Dubai, Sharjah 2, Ajman, Dunai Al Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Waha.
