Dubai Municipality has issued a warning to owners of abandoned buildings asking them to ensure the safety and aesthetic appearance of their properties.
Engineer Marwan Abdullah Al-Mohammad, director of architectural supervision at the buildings department, said that some buildings have been poorly maintained or abandoned in various areas of the emirate, where owners have neglected them despite their negative impact on public health and safety.
He urged owners of these buildings to demolish them or visit the municipality within a week to obtain necessary permits for works, adding that should they not comply the municipality will demolish the buildings and incur all costs on to owners, with an additional 20 per cent charge for administrative costs.
