Sales are surging for online retailers this Ramadan as shoppers snap up gifts in the run-up to the Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Gadgets, computers, jewellery and watches are just some of the products being bought and delivered straight to shoppers' doors.
"It actually helps that it's summer," said Omar Kassim, chief executive of JadoPado.com, which focuses on electronics and fashion. "Less people tend to want to go out and especially more so when they're fasting."
Besides JadoPado.com, Alshop.com, Souq.com and Aido.com have all recorded much better sales this year during Ramadan than last year.
For some of the websites, the increase is by a factor of five.
Online retail has been slow to take off in the Emirates, with concerns about data security and the absence of a postal system often cited as reasons. But consumers are now catching on to the trend as websites can often offer cheaper prices and greater convenience than physical retailers.

Return flights with Emirates from Dubai to Stockholm, then Icelandair to Reykjavik, cost from Dh4,153 return. The whole trip takes 11 hours. British Airways flies from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Reykjavik, via London, with return flights taking 12 hours and costing from Dh2,490 return, including taxes.
The activities: A half-day Silfra snorkelling trip costs 14,990 Icelandic kronur (Dh544) with Dive.is. Inside the Volcano also takes half a day and costs 42,000 kronur (Dh1,524).
