Construction of an obstacle course will begin on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche in the coming days, Flash Entertainment announced on Sunday.
As a test for participants of the Get Drive Fit Challenge, the obstacle course, located at Yasalam’s new West Plaza, will comprise 17 sections for visitors to test their fitness levels.
Participants will be challenged to run while carrying tyres, scale “The Wall”, pass the balance beams, army crawl through the tunnels and jump over the hurdles. The tasks will continue with monkey bars and window jumps.
Organisers said the course would be suitable for all fitness levels and anyone over age 14. There will be prizes, including a reward for the fastest male and female, who will be crowned the Get Driver Fit Obstacle Course Champions.
The course will be open to the public from November 13 to 15 with experts on hand.
In its sixth year, the Yasalam celebrations Live on the Corniche, including the obstacle course, will take place at the West Plaza and Lagoon Beach for the first time.
It will include an F1 FanZone and an Urban Art Zone, which will have creative activities, such as live graffiti art on old shipping containers.
The zone will also teach about upcycling and refurbishing furniture to help give back to the under-privileged in the community.
The festival will kick off with the Yasalam Opening Parade, with music and fancy dress costumes inspired by the race and the worldwide host cities. It will feature local school floats, a marching band and performers along the boardwalk of the Corniche where schools will compete for the best float design trophy.
