A new iPhone app will make it possible to pay utilities bill, traffic fines, and top up a Salik account with the tap of a screen.
Dubai eGovernment has submitted the app to Apple's App Store and hopes to have it up the week after Gitex. Apps for Android, Blackberry and other smartphones are in development, it said.
The new app, which will provide access to multiple services from Dubai Electric and Water Authority, Dubai Police and Roads and Transport Authority, is just one of the new innovations the department hopes to showcase at Gitex, which runs from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Dubai eGovernment said it had collected Dh3.2 billion in electronic payment transactions in the first nine months of this year – a 22 per cent increase from the same time last year.
