New fire engines will pump water higher up Dubai skyscrapers

Civil Defence say new trucks will be able to pump water up 32 floors, compared to the current 10.

DUBAI // Fire engines with the ability to pump water up to 32 floors will be in use by next year, Dubai Civil Defence said on Wednesday.

Brig Ahmed Al Sayegh, acting director of DCD, said current trucks can pump water up to the 10th floor but firefighters also put out blazes from inside buildings.

Civil Defence aim to attend fires in eight minutes. Last year the average response time was seven minutes.
