Dubai Police may have solved the mystery of Naif Souq's disappearing saffron – by arresting a man accused of stealing more than Dh4 million worth over a year.
Officers believe the man was responsible for thefts from shops that started in February last year, including one incident in which more than Dh370,000 worth of the spice was stolen.
Police arrested a man on Sunday, but he told them he was only a broker and had received the spice from another person. He led them to K?H, an Afghan, who was arrested.
The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Another way to earn air miles
In addition to the Emirates and Etihad programmes, there is the Air Miles Middle East card, which offers members the ability to choose any airline, has no black-out dates and no restrictions on seat availability. Air Miles is linked up to HSBC credit cards and can also be earned through retail partners such as Spinneys, Sharaf DG and The Toy Store.
