Motorist dies after crashing into pillar at Ibn Battuta Mall

The driver was speeding at 6am on Saturday

A motorist died after crashing into a concrete pillar at the entrance of Ibn Battuta Mall on Saturday.

At about 6am the driver was speeding and lost control of the four-wheel-drive after a speed bump forced the motorist to take a left turn, said Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the traffic department of Dubai Police.

The driver swerved and crashed into the concrete pillar.

Police said despite attempts by emergency medical response teams to resuscitate, the driver was pronounced dead at hospital.

Police did not specifyif the driver was male or female.
