Mother of Ruler of Sharjah dies

The mother of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah, has passed away aged 95.

SHARJAH // The mother of the ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Maryam bint Ghanem bin Salim al Shamsi, has passed away at the age of 95. Funeral prayers will be performed today after Isha prayers at Ahmed ibn Hanbal Mosque. The body of the deceased will be laid to rest at Al Jubail cemetery, the royal cemetery of Sharjah rulers, which is situated in the heart of the city. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed, Sharjah's ruler, will accept condolences after the funeral service at the Al Badea Palace and will receive mourners tomorrow and Friday from 10am until 2pm and after Taraweeh prayers in the evening. A seven-day period of official mourning was declared in Sharjah, where flags will fly half mast. Government departments will be open as usual as no public holiday has been announced.
