FUJAIRAH // Two men have appeared before criminal court accused of smuggling Dh1 million worth of hashish, heroin and psychotropic drugs into the country.

The two Asians hid the drugs in an under-construction building in the Al Faqeet area of Dibba Al Fujairah, prosecutors said.

The anti-narcotics department at Fujairah Police received a tip off about two men who were selling heroin, hashish and other narcotics. Officers carried out a sting operation to buy drugs from the two suspects and arrested them at the building where the drugs were stashed.

The men denied all charges against them but confessed to abusing tramadol, during a court hearing.

The case was adjourned until May 10.
