ABU DHABI // Two men accused of stealing electric cables claimed they had actually found them buried in the ground, the criminal court heard.
The first defendant, G, confessed to the charge at first, but then said he had discovered the cables while digging a hole and thought they were garbage. As no one claimed them, him and his accomplice A decided to keep them.
“Even when police arrived no one claimed they were theirs,” he said.
A verdict will be announced next week.
